Youth Ministry at Edgewood
We as the Youth Ministry at Edgewood Community Church exist to nurture fully devoted followers of Jesus of the 6th-12th grade students who attend BURST or HighLife (Matthew 28:19-20). We seek to accomplish this mission by focusing on the Gospel, Community, and Mission. We do this for the good of the students and for the glory of God!
Your First Visit
When you come to BURST or HighLife for a first time on a Wednesday night during the school year, there will be someone to greet you at the door and welcome you. We will have you put your name and some basic contact information on a card and then give you a brief tour of what Edgewood looks like on a Youth Ministry night. There will be group games for you to join, delicious snacks to eat, and plenty of friends to connect with and get to know! Most importantly, we won’t embarrass you or make you share your life story in front of the group when you come. We will, however, make sure you feel welcome and that you have a place to belong!
What Our Program Looks Like
The heart of the Youth Ministry at Edgewood centers around our Wednesday evening gatherings called BURST (6-8th grade, 6-7:30 pm) and HighLife (9-12th grade, 8-9:30 pm), as well as special retreats, conferences, and mission trips. On Wednesday nights, we gather as a large group for games, snacks, building relationships, worship, prayer, and teaching. We also break into small groups (broken up by grade and gender) for deeper discussion, encouragement, prayer, study of the Word, and accountability. Through all of it, we have tons of fun!
Meet our Youth Pastor
Matt Hoaglund joined the Edgewood Community Church leadership staff in the Summer of 2016 as the Youth Pastor.
"Maybe you are a parent or a middle or high-school student checking out what Youth Ministry looks like at Edgewood. Well, my name is Matt Hoaglund and I get to serve as the Youth Pastor, and I want to personally invite you to join us for an evening of BURST or HighLife. You might be an outgoing student who can’t wait to find lots of new friends, or you might be a bit more introverted and nervous about going somewhere new. Personally, I am more on the shy end of the scale, but I can assure you that we have room for everyone in our Youth Ministry. More than that, I know and trust that God wants to and will work in your life, just as I have seen him do for so many students here. I invite you to come and see!"
